What Makes a Good Wind Energy Site?
Ridgeline investigates and selects land for its potential to make great wind sites, which involves many factors including:
- wind speed
- the distribution of the wind by direction, time of day and time of year
- access to high voltage transmission lines
- access to potential buyers of the power
- ease of access to the site to deliver wind turbine components
- reasonable level ground across the site
- absence of unique scenic vistas
- absence of bird migration routes
- soil suitable for turbine foundations
